Up in the attic

A man from Geneva, NY found a 110-year-old portrait collection during an attic renovation project. Photos framed in gold of renowned suffragists such as Susan B Anthony.

The man and his friend had uncovered contents of a turn-of-the-century photography studio, complete with props, chairs and backdrops. He said he didn’t recognize suffragist Susan B. Anthony or any of the other people featured in the dozens of photos he helped remove from the attic.

“What’s amazing is that this material sat in this building for over a century, forgotten,” they said. “Someone just dry-walled over this attic and it was lost to history until we discovered it, and it’s telling a very interesting story.”
